THE CIERGERIE

Icone de Ste. Geneviève

"  The lighted candle represents the entire life of the faithful, from birth to death. It stands for the inner flame of love and devotion to God. A Christian should burn like a candle before God and his whole being should be gradually consumed by this divine flame thus marking the end of his earthly life.  " Metropolitan Vitaly

The manufacture of liturgical candles and decorative beeswax candles remains the main activity of the Monastery. The workshop supplies several parishes in France and abroad.

In an ecological approach, our workshop also recycles the ends of candles, which reduces waste.

The wax used for our candles is supplied by French beekeepers and the wicks are made entirely of cotton.

THE SIMPLES 'GARDEN

"He makes the grass grow for the cattle and the plants for the service of man." Ps. 103

Previously in the Vosges, we had discovered the virtues of medicinal plants and created a small "herb garden", around which several events had been organized. When we arrived in Mayenne, the installation of a herb garden seemed obvious to us.

Eight years of use and work with medicinal and aromatic plants allow us today, in our laboratory, to make according to ancestral know-how, soaps, massage oils, balms, syrups, and herbal teas. .

We are convinced of the benefits of plants to relieve small daily ailments, which have been confirmed to us on several occasions. However, the current legislation on the manufacture of cosmetic products pushes us to speak of well-being and not of care.

MARAICHAGE

All our vegetables, strawberries, red berries, rhubarb… are grown without pesticides or chemical fertilizers.

Our vegetable garden is used above all for the needs of the community, and a part is reserved for processing (jams, fruit pastes, vegetable pâtés, etc.) for marketing.

"Abba Lucius said to the monks: I will show you that I pray without stopping when I work with my hands. I sit with God. I wet the rushes and I weave them in ropes. I say at the same time:" God, have mercy on me in your great mercy. In your immense goodness, erase my sin ".
