Since our arrival in Bois Salair, we have renovated, with the generous help of volunteers and donors, our workplaces and reception areas, which are essential to the daily life of the community. In recent months, again thanks to the generosity of several benefactors, we are completing the restoration of the kitchen, the creation of a sink and the floor of the refectory. After that, we will have completed a very important stage of work.
This small wooden chapel was built around thirty years ago by the owners of the estate, Father Gabriel and Mrs. Anita BORNAND, who wanted to offer a place of prayer to the Orthodox inhabitants of the region. We have had the chance to pray in this chapel and welcome our faithful there since our arrival in 2014. Now, the time has come for us to adapt it to the needs of the community.
The chapel has deteriorated over time and deserves substantial work. The roof, ground and exterior cladding require refurbishment. We would like to take advantage of this work to enlarge the chapel and thus improve our reception conditions. To do this, it would be, among other things, to create an extension at the entrance and insulate the ceiling and walls, but also to install electricity and a heating system.
The work has just started and should be completed at the end of October 2021.

WHAT WILL THE COLLECTION BE USED FOR
This donation campaign aims to finance mainly the first stage of the restoration of the chapel.
The minimum target, of € 35,000, will allow the structural work to be completed quickly. If the donation campaign exceeds this amount, then we can dedicate these funds to the following steps.
1st step :
- Roof repair: replacement of the fiber cement sheets by a slate roof
- Replacement of the cladding
- Extension at the front of the chapel
- Replacement of windows and a door
- Ceiling and wall insulation
- Floor: removal of existing parquet, installation of underfloor heating and tiling
- Adjustment and installation of the iconostasis
2nd step :
- Carpentry work: desks, stalls, cabinets
- Purchase and installation of indoor and outdoor lighting
- Preparation of the walls to accommodate the frescoes
3rd step :
- Outdoor landscaping between chapel, refectory and shop
